This course is aimed at first year Common Core students in science and technology. Students have learnt to write by practising in the field during their training, where they have encountered enormous difficulties in writing their dissertation, an internship report, or even a letter or CV of acceptable quality. The proposal for the 'Writing Methodology' Discovery Unit was prompted by the shortcomings that our students have experienced in the past, particularly when they have had to submit an official document relating to their training within a set deadline. The aim of this course is not to improve the language of writing, but to improve the way in which an individual piece of writing is structured. By writing, we mean any document that enables us to communicate with others, to formulate a request, to present our skills or to write a dissertation, a thesis or simply an article of which we are the main author.
