Informations du cours
This course material, titled "Vibrations and Mechanical Waves" (Physics 3), has been developed and presented in accordance with the curriculum framework for the Licence LMD-S3 program in the fields of Material Science (SM) and Science and Technology (ST).
The course is structured into two main parts:
-
The first part, divided into five chapters, focuses on the study of vibrations.
- Chapter 1 introduces the Lagrangian formalism, which describes the oscillations of physical systems.
- Chapter 2 examines free linear oscillations (small-amplitude) in systems with a single degree of freedom.
- Chapter 3 discusses damped motion, incorporating frictional forces proportional to velocity.
- Chapter 4 explores forced oscillations and resonance phenomena.
- Chapter 5 extends the study to vibrations in systems with multiple degrees of freedom.
-
The second part, covered in the last two chapters, is dedicated to the propagation of waves.
The course follows a logical progression, with each new concept introduced and clarified through simple yet practical examples. Additionally, a set of problems is provided to enhance understanding, ensuring effective student comprehension and mastery of the subject.
