Informations du cours
Materials technology deals with the fields of application of materials science to the art of construction, namely: the choice of materials, determination of their characteristics, knowledge of their properties, application techniques, testing methods, and development of new materials or material systems. The aim of the first chapter is to enable students to understand that there are many properties of materials, all of which are important in the field of construction. These properties can be divided into physical properties, where the definition and method of determination of some of them will be explained, such as: density, density, porosity, compactness, moisture and degree of water absorption. Physico-chemical properties such as permeability, shrinkage, creep and swelling will also be presented. Finally, mechanical properties such as compressive strength, tensile strength, torsional strength, shear strength and Young's modulus will be discussed in the last part of this chapter.
