This course is designed for third-year undergraduate students in process engineering. It is structured in four chapters: a general introduction providing some basic concepts on stoichiometric relationships, namely, the extent of reaction, degree of reaction, conversion rate, progress at multiple stoichiometric coefficients, and production flow rate; a second chapter dealing with ideal reactors (definition, classification, etc.); Chapter III covering a range of mass balances in ideal reactors, continuous reactors (perfectly stirred reactors, plug flow reactors), and batch reactors (such as closed-circuit reactors); and finally, a last chapter on flow in real reactors.
